Goongerah Landcare Group

What we do

Our group is interested in natural history and sustainable living. As the only cleared agricultural land inside a large forested environment we concentrate on tackling weeds that have the ability to spread into the forests.

Our projects

We map and eradicate weeds such as blackberries, honeysuckle and elderberry.

We have worked to eradicate the invasive tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum) from a nationally significant rainforest area at Martins Creek.

Feral deer are a growing concern that we’re looking at.

We invite expert speakers and workshop leaders covering topics that include fruit tree pruning, insect pollinators and the behavior and impacts of sambar deer.

Where are we?

Goongerah is 70 km by road north of Orbost on the Brodribb River. We are a small, relatively isolated settlement of residents in the foothill forests between the Errinundra and Snowy National Parks.
