Far East Sustainable Agriculture Group

Far East Sustainable Agriculture Group

Under the Landcare banner we are a group of farmers that participate in training, trials and field days to enhance our knowledge in farming sustainably and regeneratively with the focus of improving soil health to create better pastures and healthier animals.

The Far East Sustainable Agriculture Group was formed in 2006 when local beef producers recognised that by coming together they would be better able to attract guest speakers to up skill the local farming community.

The Group has been involved in the Beefcheque and Prograze programs, and more recently the Top Soils project and the Better Beef Network. A B12 health trial was conducted over several farms, and a 3 year trial on rotational grazing was supported by the group. Members have completed whole farm plans and held informative field days on topics as diverse as pasture management, soil heath and farm biosecurity. The Group won the Regional Innovation in Sustainable Farm Practices Award – East Gippsland at the 2015 Victorian Landcare Awards.
