Peter Norwood - Bachelor of Applied Science in Agriculture
Peter is a highly experienced agronomist who works closely with beef and dairy farmers in the Orbost area. With a background in dairy, beef, sheep, broadacre cropping, and horticulture, Peter understands the challenges local farmers face. He specialises in soil and tissue testing, helping farmers correct imbalances to improve soil health, boost crop performance, and support animal nutrition. Peter’s practical, whole-farm approach—looking at the links between soil, pasture, and livestock—has made him a trusted resource for many farmers across Gippsland.
The Far East Gippsland TopSoils Project focuses on improving soil condition and farm profitability through a farmer-driven approach.
The project promotes best management practices in soil health by engaging experts, conducting soil tests, providing expert analysis of results, and offering grazing strategies.
TopSoils demonstration sites explore the effects of nutrient management and strategic grazing on weed loads within native pasture systems.
There is no cost to join a TopSoils group in your area or to attend events, and you do not need to be a Landcare member to participate.
Throughout the project, participants are encouraged to trial new practices they learn through the program and share their results with others.
Far East Victoria Landcare will provide ongoing support to participants throughout the project.
